Red Star is an animation studio creating fantastic animated feature films, kids' TV and 3D/4D attractions in theme parks. Founded in Sheffield in 2004 by Ben Smith and Jan Rogowski, we offer script-to-screen production of exciting and engaging stories for family audiences.
In 2020 we released our first animated feature film STARDOG & TURBOCAT starring Luke Evans, Nick Frost, Gemma Arterton and Bill Nighy in over a dozen territories worldwide and have recently completed work on a second feature THE AMAZING MAURICE. Based on the bestselling book by Sir Terry Pratchett and starring Hugh Laurie, Emilia Clarke, Himesh Patel and Hugh Bonneville, the film is co-production with Studio Rakete and will debut on Sky Cinema in December 2022.
Red Star are currently developing a slate of animation features including THE LAST DINOSAUR and STARDOG AND TURBOCAT 2; and are entering production a BBC Christmas Special for Magic Light Pictures (The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, Zog).
